What does it do?
Cel-Fi GO works with 3G and 4G telephone networks. It is designed to repeat the mobile signal in areas of poor mobile coverage. A repeater in mobile networks takes in a weak signal, amplifies it so it is stronger and re-transmits the boosted signal. It makes no changes to it. What comes in is what goes out except being boosted it is much stronger and can go further. Thats why it is called a repeater. Naturally, if you are out of mobile cell tower range and not getting any signal on your phone, the Cel-Fi Go can't operate.
How does it work?
To start with you need to add a mobile phone antenna to the outside of your vehicle. Much like a UHF antenna. This has a cable that connects to the Cel-Fi GO unit. The Cel-Fi GO unit can be mounted in the cabin under a front seat. It has a power lead that can be hard wired in or go to the USB connector for power. There is an internal mobile phone antenna that goes inside the vehicles cabin and can be stuck to the windscreen. This also has a cable that connects to the Cel-Fi GO unit.
There is an app you need to load on your phone that controls the Cel-Fi GO. When you hop in your vehicle, your mobile phone picks up your carrier's signal (Optus, Telstra) from the internal antenna. All calls now rout through the internal antenna - Cell-Fi GO - external antenna to the carriers network.
