Melbourne Cleaning Cloths - home to the "Bag of Rags"
Ever since we invented the internal combustion engine we needed something to wipe up the mess it makes when it leaks oil or coolant, clean it or sometimes even polish it. Not only the engine but the bodywork and glass also needed a clean from time to time. The humble rag has been doing this role for well over 100 years and will most likely continue doing it into the future. A good clean rag or cloth is just as important a tool to the mechanic as the right size spanner.
Melbourne Cleaning Cloths rags
Melbourne Cleaning Cloths recycle, clean and grade clothing to create their bags of rags. Usually available in 1.5kg or 10kg bag of rags, they are cut up and any zips or buttons are removed so they won't scratch surfaces. You can get rags of pure white or a collection of rags coloured like a paint samples chart. They are made from singlets, windcheaters, towels, cotton, flannel, sheets, blankets and nappies. They even have microfibre. Coming in the bags they are sealed up ready to use.
Hundreds of Uses...
Rags have always been popular in a workshop environment. Most times their main task is cleaning up a mess or a component covered in old oil or grease so it can be inspected. Then wiping away residue of sealers or glues. Vital when using paint for drips and cleaning up. They are a very handy disposable tool and a workshop necessity. They were used in cleaning vehicles and can still fill this role, though the microfibre cloth has now taken this over and the humble rag is frowned upon if used for this job.
