Car Electrical from Rare Spares
This covers a multitude of different components whose one common point is the have electricity flowing through them. The one thing most modern cars do is control just about everything mechanical from electrical outputs from the computer. Older classics are much easier and simpler as there is no computer. All the electrics does is run the lights, starts the car, provides engine ignition, works the wipers, radio and fan for the heater.
Points or Electronic Ignition?
It started to get more complex in the 70's with electric windows and electronic ignition. Electronic ignition meant no more fiddly points to adjust in the distributor and it made engine tuning so much easier. Rare Spare make the points sets for these distributors and electronic ignition upgrades as well. You can choose originality or modern convenience for your classics ignition. The distributor will still look the same on the outside which is why it is such a popular upgrade.
They make a lot of the engines ignition components including coils, distributors and parts for distributors. The distributor has been phased out of the modern engines so parts are getting harder to get. Spark plug leads and spark plugs branded by automotive spare parts suppliers are sought after, especially for concours restorations. Other items they make are oil pressure and water temperature senders found on engines and horns, which also live under the bonnet.
Indicators not self-cancelling?
Original style electrical wiring terminals and connectors are popular as are a range of replacement switches. Indicator switches mounted in the steering column are a great product as old ones can stop self-cancelling when the plastic gets too brittle and it breaks. Nothing more annoying than driving down the road with your indicator left on. Easy done as you are use to it cancelling once you turn the corner and the exhausts on some classic cars are so loud you can't hear it clicking.
