Car Heating & Cooling Components from Rare Spares

Whether cooling the engine on your classic or heating the cabin, it all comes from the same place. The cars cooling system provides both functions. Your heater in the cabin is actually a small version of your radiator though it is officially called a heater core. The internal combustion engine generates a lot of heat and the radiator at the front of the car provides the cooling. The heater core takes the hot water from the engine and when cold air is passed through it, warms it up.

Front passenger side carpet getting wet without it raining?

Heater cores can leak. A sure sign is the water level dropping in your radiator and your carpet on the passenger side of the car starts getting wet. They are a big job to fix as the dashboard needs to come out to get to it. You also need to properly dry out your carpet otherwise the smell is pretty bad.

Thermostat housing badly corroded?

Rare Spares carry a good range of thermostats, gaskets and thermostat housings to replace heavily corroded units on your Holden or Ford. If the coolant is not looked after it acts like an acid, slowly corroding the insides of your engine.

Water pump seal leaking?

Like a thermostat, water pumps can also suffer from poor coolant. Probably a bigger killer is seal failure, where coolant leaks past the seal on the front of the water pump. The sits just behind the pulley that drives the pump. Replacement of the pump is the best option as they are normally pressed in.

There are a lot of other cooling components to keep your classic running. This includes radiator caps, heater taps, radiator fan shrouds, radiator hoses and a lot more. Their quality components will keep your classic running so you can get out on the road and enjoy it.

Rare Spares heating and cooling section covers Ford, Holden, Nissan and Chrysler products to suit a range of vehicles. If your classic is losing water and overheating, they will have the parts to sort it out for you.
