Popular Questions Asked

What screw is best for metal?

Known as self drilling screws or tek screws, these screws contain a drill point head that does not require pre drilling or a pilot hole and can effectively cut through metal. A tek screw is the ideal solution for fastening metal to metal and can be tightened without spinning on it's own thread.

Wafer head screws are effective for fixing timber or drywall to metal but are not used in automotive applications.

What screws don't rust?

Manufactured in Australia and overseas the Champion Fasteners range of Stainless steel 316 screws are the recommended fastener choice for humid climates or environments prone to rust. This stainless steel is known as ""marine grade"" and consists of nickel, chromium and a metal called molybdenum to provide a tough but resilient fastener for a large range of settings.

Are stainless screws stronger than steel?

A true stainless steel screw will have a high tensile strength measuring between 100,000 to 150,000 tensile pounds per square inch (PSI). Galvanized steel screws, on the other hand, have an average of only 62,000 PSI.
