Popular Questions Asked
What do jack stands do?
Your pair of jack stands are integral to the safe support of your vehicle when it is elevated. Once your trolley or bottle jack has raised your vehicle, you will then position an axle stands under each of the jacking points on both sides of the vehicle. You will then lower the trolley jack to take the load off the jack and onto the jack stands.
Why do I need axle stands?
When your 2 ton vehicle is raised in the air you would never solely put your faith in the bottle or trolley jack that elevated it. Because jack stands are not hydraulic they are a safer and static option to locate your vehicle. Always ensure your vehicle is parked on a solid flat surface and once you have located your axle stands under your car, take the load off your jack. Once your vehicle has settled on the jack stands ensure there is no movement and the axle stands are firmly located under your vehicle.
What jack stands do I need?
As each jack stand has a working load limit these will combine to give you a cumulative total it will hold. In most cases it always pays to buy a pair of jack stands that easily exceed the vehicle weight you will commonly work on. For a small car you would look at a minimum of a combined 2 Ton working load limit. Medium sized cars and SUVs should be a minimum of 3 Ton and anything larger you would look to a 5 Ton working load limit as a minimum.
Are jack stands safe?
All jack stands sold through Repco have been certified to the applicable Australian and New Zealand safety standards. Always check your jack stands prior to use to ensure clean and smooth operation and no cracks or wear to them. Do not use if showing signs of wear or are faulty
