Bench grinders are usually mounted on pedestals to make accessing the wheels simple and easy. Their primary function is grinding though they have other attachments for sanding, linishing, buffing and polishing. A handy use for them is sharpening drill bits, which is not an easy skill to master but well worth it. The same goes for wood chisels.

They are great for fabricating, finishing and restoring metal parts and the different attachments or wheels are easy to change. They are a tool that needs to be treated with respect as they can bite if not taking all the right safety precautions when using them.
