Any sort of manual, physical labour type work that does not involve sitting behind a desk staring at a screen all day needs some type of work wear that is rugged, hard wearing and able to be easily seen. It may also need to be warm to protect you from cold temperatures or be able to breathe well in hotter climates. Sometimes it even becomes fashionable. Denim jeans were originally developed as workwear. Who would have thought that today.

Why has Hi Vis clothing become important?
In recent times the use of Hi Vis clothing has become part of the wardrobe and you can get into serious trouble if not wearing it when you are supposed to. The reason is self-explanatory, it is so you are easy to see when wearing it. Anywhere there are moving vehicles, forklifts, cranes, heavy machinery, construction, Hi Vis is a fact of life for these workers. Even bosses are not immune from wearing it on the 'shop' floor.
The good part is that it is available in a light vest so you can still wear comfortable workwear and add and remove the vest when required. A lot of them now have reflectors so you are more easily seen at night time. You can even get Hi Vis coloured socks.
Are heated jackets practical workwear?
If you work in cold climates or overnight where temperatures can drop to below freezing then a heated jacket is extremely practical. They do keep you warm which is what they are designed too do and this makes movement easier and you don't need so many layers of clothes.
They usually have different settings so you can very the amount of heat for the jacket. The heat pads are normal in the chest area in front and at the back. They are heated by using a battery and are wind and water resistant.
There are only really two main issues with a heated jacket. Up front cost and battery life. The hotter you make the jacket the less time you can use it before it needs recharging. If you keep a charger and spare battery handy that solves the problem though it comes at a cost.
